ABOUT THE ACADEMY THEATRE...
The Academy Theatre is a excellent facility located in Birdwell,
Barnsley, less than 1 minute from Junction 36 of the M1 motorway.
Officially opened on the 18th February 2004, this purpose
built entertainment building houses 180 tiered seats, a state
of the art lighting, sound and technical system and thus offers
this and surrounding areas a varied program of top-class entertainment
(both amateur and professional) and will be used as a performace
platform for the members of the theatre school. The theatre
will also be used as a facility for teaching youngsters the
technical side of stage work and also acts as a conference
/ training facility for presentations and lectures etc.

Accessibility
The majority of our facility is located on the ground floor
making it ideal for disabled access. Our theatre offers positions
for up to 8 wheelchairs and we also have special toilet /
washroom facilities for our disabled guests.
For our visually impaired visitors, guide dogs are welcome
and we will be pleased to provide a bowl of water on request.
Smoking Restrictions
In the interests of health and safety, the Take 2 Centre is
a no-smoking building.
